MOUNTAIN INTERVALS
I lost my motivation in the dust and rubble of a broken home
And I found my inspiration in a six string and a notebook full of hope
I lost my friends in the fire of 2004 when the bridge burned down
So I took a different road and found myself
On a path where the leaves scattered the ground
I took the dirt road
I didn’t know just where it would lead
I took the dirt road
Cause it seemed like a better path to me
I took the dirt road
Somewhere ages and ages hence
I took the dirt road
And that has made all the difference
I lost my sorrows in the bottom of a bottle
I found my weakness when I sat and drank it all alone
I lost my head that day when my fist met your face
If I didn’t take a different path now
Then I would never find my place
I took the dirt road
I didn’t know just where it would lead
I took the dirt road
Cause it seemed like a better path to me
I took the dirt road
Somewhere ages and ages hence
I took the dirt road
And that has made all the difference
I was lost I was all alone
(Please find me Please find my way)

Some Of Our Parts

SOME OF OUR PARTS
What have we to say?
I’m left with only queries
Why I’m here and why I stay, I’m trying to know again
It starts with good intentions
Paves its way to Hell
Been so long, staying strong alone I will get through this
Hey, I won’t look back
At where I fell flat
We’ll fight our way to better days
Try to downplay despair and rage
Though they plague me all the same
We’re searching to find our way
Respite. Relief. And what can…And what can set us free
Getting ahead of self
Have I anything to show?
Labors of frustration
Death blows to motivation
Had it been just for myself, long ago I’d walk away
This vagabond vocation is not a permanent vacation
Not chasing islands in the sky
Just trying to get by
We’ll fight our way to better days
Lay down the weapons set the stage
Pull back the curtain, tend the blaze
Together we’ll take back these days. Take back these days!

Ill-Advised Plans

ILL ADVISED PLANS
Let’s have a few drinks and we’ll go for a drive
And see where we end up tonight
The plans aren’t in place but we like it that way
Spontaneous days of our lives
With brothers and friends and the people we meet
As we walk these cracked downtown streets
Bring our guitars and we’ll sing in the bars
Of these days that will never be beat
So hey friend, whatcha doing tonight?
I haven’t seen you in such a long time
I love this place and the company that we keep
Gather our coats, our friends whiskey and gin
To see where the fun will begin
We drink to the days and we sing to the nights
We toast to our wrongs and our rights
Last calls a comin’ but we don’t move an inch
We hold our ground right where we stand
We gather the choir to sing la da de da
To the best and most ill advised plans
So hey friend, whatcha doing tonight?
I haven’t seen you in such a long time
I love this place and the company that we keep
Let’s have a few drinks and we’ll go for a drive
And see where we end up tonight
The plans aren’t in place but we like it that way
Spontaneous days of our lives
With brothers and friends and the people we meet
As we walk these cracked downtown streets
Bring our guitars and we’ll sing in the bars
Of these days that will never be beat
So hey friend, whatcha doing tonight?
I haven’t seen you in such a long time
I love this place and the company that we keep

Bitter Ends

BITTER ENDS
Remember those horrible things that you wrote about me
In that black book by your bed?
Did you ever know that I read them?
And that every word was correct
The saddest songs are the ones we learned to sing
In my room in that damn Florida spring
So I lit a cigarette and poured another drink
When you stormed out I forgot how speak
If I knew then what I do now
I’d turn this car around and ask you to get out
If I thought now the way I did back then
I’d sure as hell let it come to the same bitter end
Of course I never judged you for that therapy
How could I when I’ve been to two or three
Though everything was fine until that day
Crashed your car to the side jumped the bridge into the bay
Remember that black book that I left by your bed?
Carefully thought out and every word reread
It spoke of lost youth
Halfhearted eulogy
My last ditch apology
If I knew then what I do now
I’d turn this car around and ask you to get out
If I thought now the way I did back then
I’d sure as hell let it come to the same bitter end
Unspoken
Bitter ends
A closing
Begin again
